Rental Terms
By using our website, you fully accept these Rental Terms. Completing a reservation with FOLLOW signifies that you, the renter, have agreed to and accepted all the terms of our website. Therefore, all information should be read and understood thoroughly.
Through the rental contract, FOLLOW rents to the undersigned renter the car listed on the first page of this agreement, which fully meets the preferences of the renter, under the following conditions:
DRIVER AGE
The renter-driver must be over 20 years old. The driver must have held a valid driving license for at least one year. The driver must either hold a driving license issued by a European Union country or an International Driving Permit, which must be accompanied by the driver’s national license.
ACCESS TO VEHICLE CATEGORIES
Drivers aged 20 to 24 may rent categories A, B, C (automatic or manual), and small SUVs. Drivers aged 25 and over have access to all vehicle categories.
VEHICLE CONDITION UPON DELIVERY AND RETURN
The renter confirms receipt of the car in excellent condition. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition, with all tools, wheels, and accessories, to the designated location listed on the first page of the contract. If the renter fails to return the vehicle to this location or to a company representative, it will be considered abandonment, with all corresponding legal consequences and liability.
RENTAL PERIOD
The rental day is calculated on a 24-hour basis, with a one-hour grace period. Late returns are charged as an additional rental day. To extend the rental, the renter must notify the company 24 hours prior to the agreed return time. FOLLOW reserves the right to terminate the contract if the renter violates its terms or acts against the company’s interests.
The company may, depending on availability, provide a different car of equal or superior category to the one originally booked.
AUTHORIZED DRIVERS
Only individuals listed in the Rental Agreement may drive the vehicle. Any damages or incidents caused by unauthorized drivers are the responsibility of the renter.
PROHIBITED USES
The vehicle must not be used:
- In violation of this agreement
- For paid transportation of passengers or cargo
- To carry more passengers than allowed
- To transport heavy, smelly, or illegal items
- For towing
- In races or competitions
- By anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- By unauthorized persons
- Outside Crete without written permission
- In any way contrary to Greek law
RENTER'S RESPONSIBILITIES
The renter must:
- Regularly inspect the mechanical condition of the car
- Check oil, water, tires, and general roadworthiness
- Prevent damage caused by negligence and compensate the company for any such damages
FUEL POLICY
The renter must pay for fuel and return the vehicle with the same fuel level. Excess fuel will not be reimbursed.
LOSS OR DAMAGE OF PERSONAL ITEMS
FOLLOW is not responsible for any loss or damage to personal items in the vehicle or at the rental office.
THEFT PREVENTION
When not in use, the renter must take all necessary measures to prevent theft of the car or its parts.
MECHANICAL DAMAGE
The company is not responsible for mechanical damage resulting from the renter’s misuse of the vehicle.
TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS
The renter is responsible for any traffic violations and must pay associated fines, even if issued after the rental period.
INSURANCE
- A) Basic Insurance:Covers third-party liability, damage from uninsured vehicles, and personal accident insurance for the driver. The renter is fully liable for damage to the rental vehicle.
- B) Full Insurance:Includes all the above, plus theft and fire protection with exemption, provided the renter complies with Greek traffic laws. Excludes damage to the interior, tires, mirrors, windows, undercarriage, or damage from off-road use. The renter must pay a daily fee as per the current rate.
- C) Passenger Insurance:The renter is responsible for the safety of all passengers. FOLLOW assumes no liability.
- D) Coverage Limits:Insurance coverage is capped according to the car’s insurance policy. The renter is responsible for any damage beyond the insured amount.
- E) Agreement:Insurance terms are binding upon the renter’s signature on the first page of the contract.
IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT
The renter must:
- Notify the police
- Record witness details
- Avoid admitting fault
- Contact the company immediately
- Collect all relevant details (other driver, license plate, etc.)
- Submit a written report to FOLLOW within 24 hours
COMPANY RIGHTS
The company does not waive any rights under this agreement or applicable law.
JURISDICTION
Any legal disputes will be resolved by the courts of Heraklion, Crete.
PRIVACY POLICY
FOLLOW complies with EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR) on personal data protection. Personal data is collected only with the user’s consent and used solely for specified purposes. The company may disclose personal data if legally required by government authorities or law enforcement.
CANCELLATION AND CHANGES POLICY
- 70% of the reservation is refunded if cancellation is made at least 10 days before the start date.
- No refunds for cancellations made less than 10 days in advance or for early returns.
- No refunds for last-minute bookings (within 10 days).
- Non-refundable cancellations include:
- Rejection of rental terms
- No-shows
- Invalid/expired/no driving license
- Failure to pay required fees
- Inappropriate behavior at the office
- Last-minute bookings (within 24 hours of pickup)
VEHICLE CLEANLINESS AND SMOKING POLICY
- Smoking is prohibited in all vehicles.
- Vehicles must be returned in clean condition for inspection. If not, a €20 fee applies.
- A €50 fee applies for biological cleaning due to smoking, pet hair, sand, sunscreen, saltwater, etc.
ANIMALS & PETS
Animals are allowed only in airline-approved pet carriers.
LOST KEYS / ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE
In case of key loss, the renter must contact the company immediately. Charges include the cost of the key and transportation (based on distance).
FINES AND PENALTIES
Traffic fines are the renter’s responsibility. If FOLLOW is charged, the renter will be invoiced the equivalent amount.
VEHICLE USAGE RULES
The renter agrees to:
- Maintain the vehicle in good condition
- Respect traffic laws and speed limits
- Avoid driving off-road (e.g., Balos Beach)
- Avoid driving under the influence
- Not tow other vehicles
- Not sublet or race with the vehicle
- Lock the car when not in use
- Not pledge, sell, lease, or modify the vehicle
- Stop the car if technical issues arise
Misuse resulting in mechanical damage is the renter’s responsibility. Examples include:
- Wrong fuel use
- Failing to use handbrake on slopes
- Aggressive driving or sudden braking
- Ignoring dashboard warnings
- Overloading
- Improper use of transmission
- Driving under the influence
